Lee County Children’s Museum to Host Grand Reopening
Unveiling to Include Renovations And Expansion
WHAT: The Lee County Children’s Museum is hosting a grand re-opening event on Oct 24. The museum has been closed for four months for a $10 million renovation and expansion.
WHO: Participants in the grand re-opening includes Steve Babair, the museum’s executive director and the Fort Myers Mayor Herb Hollan. Also, the three winners of the recent Lee County Science Fair, including Jake Stern, 7, Shelby Voyer, 13, and Trent Jones, 16, will participate in the opening ceremony and display their projects in the museum.
WHEN: The Lee County Children’s Museum grand re-opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
10 a.m. Welcome by Hollan.
10:05 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance by the science fair winners.
10:07 a.m. Remarks by Babair.
10:15 a.m. Unveiling of the new map of the museum, showing the layout of the renovated and expanded museum.
10:20 a.m. Musical presentation by the Spring Creek Elementary School.
10:30 a.m. Ribbon-cutting by the science fair winners.
10:40 a.m. Closing remarks by Babair.
WHERE: The Lee County Children’s Museum is located at 78965 Orange St. in Fort Myers.
NOTE: After the ceremony, the media is welcome to photograph all of the exhibits, including a new exhibit about the science of hurricanes and an interactive touch tank of marine life.
